Being a Bethel Student is quite the busy life. But I like it.
We all have a main class which is from 1230-345pm. Usually the 2 main Pastors of Bethel will speak every now and then we have special speakers. All of us 1200 ish students cram into 1 large room! Sometimes you feel like a piece of sand among the seashore but they have broken it down to group to help facilitate more of a family feel.
We are broken down into groups of 50-60 which is called a Revival Group and a chosen Pastor is an Overseer of that group, which we meet every Wednesday morning. Its a place where can grow and connect on a more intimate level.
From that group we are broken down again into 4-5 people of the same gender, which is called a small group. We meet Monday mornings and its a safe place to be honest and real and to support and push each other forward.
There are also AMT classes, which is like an extra curricular activity on some level. At the beginning of the school year we got to pick 3 of our choices and we would be placed into one of those options. Every Tuesday evening from 415-545pm, I have my AMT which is learning to be A Life Coach. Basically learning to have better communication and really help another with an issue they would have.
We as well had to choose a City Service, which is an area where the school will serve the local community in some shape or fashion. Some clean parks, some volunteer in schools, some help in prisons and so on and so forth. I have Sunday Morning Breakfast where the homeless come to the church for free breakfast. We are there to love and serve them and anyone can come to get breakfast with no strings attached. Its just a safe place where they can enjoy a meal and let people just love them. I am really excited about this.
We are also assigned a church service to attend, since there are so many students as well as local church members they assign us a service so there is parking and space for people to actually sit. I am currently assigned to the Friday night services.
Outside of the school schedule, I am working about 25-30 hours a week at the Hampton Inn. Have to pay those living expenses!
I am very busy to say the least! We are also given homework on a weekly basis. We have to read about 1-4 chapters of the bible a day, sometimes also reading study notes on them. We have books that we read and book reports that are due almost every 2 weeks. We do a homework assignment called Kingdom Foundations, which is basically doing a bible study. They choose a word such as salvation and ask us questions and have us read scriptures on those things. We as well have a text book currently that we read chapters out of and usually have assignments due out of those as well. This homework doesn't include any of the AMT reading or assignments either. I usually meet up with a a peer on Tuesday mornings to practice Peer Coaching.
Besides all of the assignments and work and busyness, God really has done something in my heart in this last week that I am so grateful for! For so long I have had this ache in my heart, even in the midst of good times. It was always underlying. I never knew the reason and I didnt know how to make it go away. God took that from me and I am looking forward to the future and what He has in store. My life will be forever different! Meaning right when I wake up, my heart will feel peace not just in the busyness but in the stillness! And for that I am extremely grateful! I believe that this is a part of the fulfilled promises He has been telling me about. And I believe its only ONE that was fulfilled and there's more to come.
